# Connect your meetings to your AI

URL: https://quietscribe.app/en/mcp/

Quiet Scribe for Mac includes a local MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and other AI apps can read your meetings, minutes, tasks and transcripts. It's read-only, stays off until you turn it on, and your meetings only leave your Mac to go to the AI you connect.

## What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI app use tools on your Mac — here, reading the meetings Quiet Scribe already keeps there.

## Your meetings, your rules

- **Stays on your Mac:** The server runs inside Quiet Scribe, on your Mac. There's no server of ours: your meetings only leave your Mac to go to the AI you connect, and what that AI does with them depends on its provider.
- **Read-only:** The AI can list, read and search meetings and tasks. It can't create, change or delete anything, and it never gets your audio.
- **Off until you turn it on:** Access is off by default. You turn it on in Quiet Scribe → Settings → Connect your AI (MCP), and you can turn it off there at any time.

## Set it up in four steps

Steps 2 to 4 are alternatives: follow the one for the AI app you use.

### 1. Turn on access in Quiet Scribe

Open Quiet Scribe on your Mac, go to Quiet Scribe → Settings → Connect your AI (MCP) and turn on “Allow connected AIs to read my meetings”.

### 2. Claude Desktop

In the same section, click “Copy configuration for Claude Desktop”. In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Developer → Edit Config, paste the configuration into claude_desktop_config.json, save the file and restart Claude Desktop.

File: `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`

The configuration looks like this:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "quiet-scribe": {
      "command": "/Applications/Quiet Scribe.app/Contents/MacOS/Quiet Scribe",
      "args": [
        "--mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

If the file already lists other servers, add only the “quiet-scribe” entry inside the existing “mcpServers” block.

### 3. Claude Code

Click “Copy command for Claude Code” in Quiet Scribe, or copy it from here, and run it in Terminal:

```sh
claude mcp add quiet-scribe -- "/Applications/Quiet Scribe.app/Contents/MacOS/Quiet Scribe" --mcp
```

Then type /mcp in Claude Code: quiet-scribe should show up as connected.

### 4. Cursor and other MCP clients

Any app that supports local (stdio) MCP servers can use the same command with the --mcp argument. Add a server named quiet-scribe with:

- **Command:** `/Applications/Quiet Scribe.app/Contents/MacOS/Quiet Scribe`
- **Argument:** `--mcp`

Cursor uses the same format as Claude Desktop: paste the configuration into ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

> These paths assume Quiet Scribe is in your Applications folder. If it's somewhere else, use the copy buttons in Quiet Scribe: they copy the real path of the app you have open.

## What your AI can read

Five read-only tools. Your AI picks the right one; you just ask in your own words.

- **`list_meetings`:** Lists your meetings, newest first, with date, duration, participants and a TL;DR. Filters by dates or text.
- **`get_meeting`:** Opens a meeting's minutes: summary, key points, decisions, tasks with owner and due date, open questions and marked moments.
- **`get_transcript`:** Reads a meeting's full transcript, with timestamps and speakers when they're known.
- **`search_meetings`:** Searches every meeting — titles, summaries, decisions, tasks and transcripts — and returns the passage that matched.
- **`list_tasks`:** Lists the tasks from all your meetings, open or done, with the meeting they came from.

## Try asking

Once it's connected, ask your AI things like:

- “What did we decide in Tuesday's meeting?”
- “Make me a list of my open tasks from this week.”
- “Find the meetings where we talked about the budget and sum up what was said.”
- “Write a follow-up email to the client from yesterday's call, with the next steps we agreed on.”

## Requirements

- A Mac with Apple Silicon and macOS 26 or later.
- Quiet Scribe 1.0.6 or later for Mac.
- An AI app that supports MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor.
